Congrats from Auntie Viv & Uncle Ben

We told Uncle Ben about the news on Saturday before we went to the Jan Lamb show. As usual he was very clam but with a lot of excitement within. Yesterday Kathy got an email from Vivian:

Hi Kathy

Congratulations!!!! Thousands of congratulations!!! Ben told me that you don't experience much discomfort so far, that's great too!!!!! Really hope to see u and Andrew soon (I really want to see how excited he is now!!!!).

Ben said he has arranged home visiting in Oct, right? I will keep putting socks on Baby G's feet 24/7 to make sure the socks are filled with NaNa's favourite odor!!

However, if you and Andrew are available, we can have lunch/ tea/ dinner someday earlier! Of course, Baby G will join us.

We store cord blood from Healthbaby. If you decide to join their scheme, you can quote us as referee, so that you can receive a free gift (previously, they gave away $500 cash voucher from Chicco for new joiner). Also, they hold seminar at their Science Park office regularly, if you decide to join the scheme on the seminar day, you can enjoy an extra gift too (usually, their giveaway are quite attractive, e.g. $500 cash voucher, toy from Fisher Price, baby's sleeping bag, etc).

You can visit the shop at 旺角始創中心 for clothing. The shop is called 百玲孕婦時裝, it is on the 2/F of the shopping centre. The jeans there costs around $100 and the style is okay!

Lastly, there is a 'baby gear' shop at TKO, the price of many products (e.g. strollers) is relatively cheaper, but they accept cash/ EPS only. Of course, when WingOn, Jusco, and other department stores are on sale, it is more convenient to shop at department stores.

Lastly, though u have registered at private hospital for delivery, it is advised to register at a public hospital too, because some private hospitals do not accept 'premature' case. Just in case, u know.

Yes I've been kicking, doing push ups, cramping those sit ups, jumping bungy in mom's tummy already... mostly at nite too, sorry mom if you don't have good nite sleeps.

And yes dad has been super excited cos I can hear him laughing in the middle of the nite, but deeply asleep! He has been really busy doing all the preparation work including opening a blog site for mom, working on a scrapbook for me, signing up at BabyCenter for weekly advices, searching the web for exercise classes, going shopping with mom for flat shoes, preg clothes, etc.... just too many i can't keep track. Oh yes, and he did mention he wanna buy me that Combi stroller BabyG is using now. hehe...

I can't wait to come out and see you all. Meantime I just have to stay put, work my muscles and consume all the juices from mom. I know dad is gonna take good care of us.

week 11!

We're in week 11! Yesterday we went to visit the doctor again and it's already 48.4mm long. Almost double the size since last visit 2 weeks ago. Baby sure is growing fast inside mommy's tummy. We did a prolonged ultrasound scan and the doc hinted and suspected that the baby is a boy! woohoo! We sure were very excited about this although we won't be sure until it's bigger. Here's the video:

The past week Kathy went for swimming twice and it made her feel better with better sleeps, although she still wakes up in the middle of the night. Her appetite hasn't been affected much and she still eats normally and healthily.

I've been busy preparing for our pregnancy announcement next week. It'll be a surprising and creative way to announce our big news. So stay tuned.

We have started searching for baby stuff such as bed, stroller, etc. Now that we know it's highly likely that it's a boy, we have to tailor the room and decor for him. Too bad we'll have to store the ballet shoes for his sister in the future.

Mom-to-be shopping

After the 3rd doc visit today, we (andy, little curly and I) went for shopping for mom-to-be.....

end up... we bought 4 pair of pants, 2 pair of leggings, 2 tops and 2 underwear...... hahaha.....

Little Curly's first swim

Yesterday, we (me and little curly) went for swimming.... it's his/ her first exercise..... :)

Week 10!

Today is week 10! What a week! Kathy was tiring all week, feeling dizzy most of the time, and sleeping early every night but waking up in the middle of the nights. Her appetite is getting better, but only this week her 'morning sickness' started to kick in.

No worries Kathy, cos this week is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in the baby's body rapidly grow and mature. In simple term, it's becoming more stable.

According to BabyCenter, the baby should be over an inch or so long, crown to bottom, and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce. Besides its tissues and organs are forming, its tiny nails are also forming on fingers and toes and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin. We hope it doesn't have alien toes and curly hairs haha!

Kathy went shopping for maternity clothes with Angel today cos she's starting to have a hard time fitting in her usual clothes especially her trousers. But no luck with that. She'll try somewhere else or just shop online.

Regarding home searching, didn't explore any this week since there're no flats for rent in Meifoo that fits our criteria at the moment. I guess to save all the hassle, looks like Hiu Fung (Huge) is the logical best choice now.

專業陪月 Mom & Baby Care Service

Today we called Tai Kau Mo (大舅母) for Mom & Baby care service (陪月) as she's a professional care taker in this field (專業陪月). She was so happy to hear the news and she said we called at the right time since she's fully booked already til end of March 2010. She would have been booked if we call later. Anyway, she has now reserved the whole of April just for us! Thank you Kau Mo.

9 Weeks!

This morning we went to our second doctor visit and did another ultrasound scan. It's at 26.3mm, just over an inch long now! Its heart is also beating very fast and we can even see it doing sit-ups, moving its limbs and head. We know it's gonna be very healthy and strong since it's working on that abs already. It's really amazing!!!

We've started to record Kathy's weight and waist but not much changes as yet. Guess she won't have significant weight gain until she's in her 16-20 weeks. However, moderate weight gain might come from her increased appetite. The doc said don't eat too much, just focus on eating high quality food and more small meals a day.

Kathy's mood swings are getting in control this week. She should try to cut herself some more slack =)

BabyCenter suggests Kathy to start a daily ritual to connect with the baby:

"Set aside two 5-10 mins a day to think about their baby. Just after waking up and before going to sleep works well for many expectant moms. During these times, sit quietly and gently rest your hands on your belly. Focus on your breathing and then start thinking about your baby (your hopes and dreams, your intentions as a parent, etc.). It's a great way to initiate the bonding process and to help you plan for the kind of parent you want to be."

OK, let's do that together from today!

A Special Gift from Uncle Adrian & Auntie Yvonne

This is a very special first gift from Uncle Adrian and Auntie Yvonne. It's a baby scrapbook with template pages to collect all the special memories and information as Little Curly grows up. This will be the baby's book while the scrapbook we bought earlier will be used for Kathy's pregnancy journal in parallel with this blog.

Well Kathy said it's a lot of work, so I'll try my best to keep writing and fill up the two scrapbooks cos this is really a memory to treasure so that when Little Curly grows up he/she can feel the joy and excitement we've been through.

Little Curly's First Treat

This afternoon Hoyan Wong (Kathy's maid of honor in our wedding) treated Little Curly its first meal at Simply Life in IFC Mall. They had a sandwich and an OJ. Yummy and thanks Auntie Hoyan!!
