Today Kathy got her BabyPlus. What's BabyPlus? According to the website, it's a little machine that naturally derived sounds that resemble a mother's heartbeat. The rhythm of the sounds increases incrementally as the pregnancy progresses. The BabyPlus sonic pattern introduces the baby to a sequential learning process, built upon the natural rhythms of their own environment.

This "auditory exercise" is believed to strengthen learning ability during the developmental period when the advantages will be most significant and enduring for a child. This early advantage means children will be able to absorb and appreciate far more of their environment than if they had not received prenatal enrichment. BabyPlus children, they claimed, have an intellectual, social, creative, and emotional advantage from the time they are born.

Here's how it's like from this video:

Well, to us, we don't quite buy the idea of it making Little Curly the next Einstein by stimulating his brain. It does however give him a taste of what is in the big wide world, instead of hearing only mommy's heartbeat all the time. It makes him think "hey there is something else going on out there!" It therefore should make birth, and all the confusion that goes with it a bit less daunting!

What we'll also do is to add some music from time to time so he can recognize the music with the comfort he's having now so he won't feel grumpy and sad when he's out :)
